Hello everyone

I have a question about Hi Lo Bread [High Protein Lo Carb] I bought in Sainsbury's (may be sold elsewhere).

Please bear in mind that I'm just starting off here and don't necessarily plan to eat this everyday and I do know there are better things to have such as eggs.

My fasting BG this morning was 7.0 (it tends to come down during the day).

I had 2 slices of the bread with cashew butter (no nasties added) and a coffee with almond milk for breakfast.

2hrs later my BG was 7.6. Is that an "acceptable" rise? Is this ok for me to eat occasionally?

Thank you. :)

Very acceptable rise. I would try again another day to make sure it is still OK for you, and test again at 2 and a half hours.

Thank you. That's a very sensible suggestion. I'd still like to get my head away from relying on bread etc even if Lo Carb but it's good to know what I can have to keep me on track. :)

Also, I haven't eaten anything else 5 hours later (oops! I've been out and wasn't hungry). My BG is now 6.0 so I'm happy that there's no delayed reaction. I will still test again another time.

If you aren't hungry, then don't eat is my advice. Spacing out your meals or skipping one is good. It gives your pancreas a good rest and can help quite a bit.

Thanks. I wondered as much but I did go to a supermarket whilst a bit hungry (never easy). I did not buy anything untoward...having company helped ;)
