Hi Message On Optium Neo

I have had a HI reading on two machines and I have used several strips. I am not sure what that means as I have never seen it before. Because of this reading I am not sure about how much novorapid to take with my next meal. Any advice on a) what is causing it b) can alcohol cause extremely high blood sugars and c) what should I do about my insulin? Many thanks.
 
Hi means your readings are above that which the blood meter can read (normally about a level of over 22 for my meters).

Have you washed your hands?
 
Wash hands, test again. Test for ketones. See where you are, if high ketones or still getting a Hi reading call 111.
 
Welcome @caitline00 by the way. Are you new to using insulin and diabetes??

Please ensure you wash your hands and then retest. Please come back to us and let us know whether washing hands gave different results.

If readings still say HI you need to contact 111 or if you have a 24 hour diabetes helpline at your hospital (some do) please contact them.
