Hi can i ask you all for some advice??

I am a type 1 diabetic, and I have real problems with my feet being sore, numb and sometimes infected. I was diagnosed in November last year, and so far I have asked my GP to see a podiatrist as they are getting worse.

It is now 15 months on and my GP have referred me to a podiatrist as an emergency case, but I have still heard nothing. I am pestering all the time, but I feel i am getting lost here. Any advice?

Who are you pestering- gp or podiatrist or both?

See if your gp reception does self referral forms.. Fill one in and add in that this is a 15 month wait!!

If not getting anywhere and it is an emergency have you the money to pay?

This might sound silly, but have you moved house and not advised your GP of your new address? The podiatrist may be sending letters to the wrong address. If that's not the case, and your feet are really sore and infected and you're not getting anywhere with your GP and podiatry, present yourself at A & E. You need urgent attention not stupid delays and excuses.

Hi first of all thank you for replying.

I have filled in 3 assessment forms, and 1 by the nurse at my GP. They have the right address and telephone number. Unfortunately I dont have the money to pay, on a very tight income.

Feel like i am just getting excuse after excuse. I even went to a diabetes education course and saw the head podiatrist and then they said they would see me in 3 months.. that was last April...

OK ... then the GP has your address correct, they've contacted the Pods and you've heard nothing and you have infected and painful feet. Either make an appointment with your GP to look at your feet or go straight to A & E and have them looked at. You've as much right to treatment at A & E as the self inflicted drunks on a Saturday night and you're diabetic, you can't afford to ignore an infected foot - and neither can your GP. If you show that you're not inclined to wait around until the Pods decide to see you, he'll take you seriously in future.
