Heya guys :D
I am new to this forum and it looks like a great place to share ideas and help each other.
I am 21 and have had Type 1 diabetes for 13 years. I am currently on a pump and have been for 10 years, before that I have been on , Mixtard 30, Novorapid, Lantus and Levemir.
I am currently at university student and have been for 3 years and have another 2 years left. I have also recently returned from a two week trip to Nekemte in Ethiopia, a brilliant and eye opening experience.

If anyone would like any help or wants to ask any questions or just wants to chat, feel free, I have a few years of personal experience and lots of different situations I have been through. Hopefully we will be able to help each other. :D

I loved reading your positive post, so hello and a big welcome Annietw :)
Best wishes RRB

Welcome @Annietw1493 and hope you enjoy the forums :)

University is always fun and visiting Ethiopia sounds great! How was it? How was the glucose levels, did the heat make it easier or harder to control?

Thank you guys, hi to you all to :-D

@teacher123 Ethiopia was amazing, regarding the heat my consultant told me it would make me more sensitive to my insulin and might make my sugars lower, however I found there was more sugar in the food than in the UK so actually I was going high and found it difficult with the food, but once I realised this I got it under control and the second week went quite nicely. :-)

@teacher123. They eat alot of what i can describe as meat chickpeas and spices blended together, and they eat it with injera which is like a pancake they use to eat it. They do also drink alot of coffee and each coffee comes with a layer of sugar at the bottum. Breakfast was fun, they love honey, it was barically a naan bread style bread covered in honey. It was definitely an experience, and was really nice food it just took some getting use to. :-)
