Evening all,

I was diagnosed T2 just after the new year as I was feeling ****, BG was 27.2, ketones were 1.5, (HBA1c was 112)
I dropped all of my numbers, and I'm now 90% in range.

I've now been diagnosed as T1 due to my antibodies.... It's OK, I've accepted it, **** happens.

So, I'm not on insulin yet (The Honeymoon period??) on 1 Gliclazyde and 4 Metformin.

Does anyone have any tips?

PS - I'm wearing the Libre 2, my levels have been 90% in range for the past few weeks... The one thing I'm worried about is when I go out of honeymoon and have to go onto insulin? How will I know? Will it be when my BG rises?

I would rather be managing my diabetes with insulin from the start. I understand this protects the few insulin producing cells you have and not put strain in them.
I understand glycazide is limited use as it works by making your body able to use insulin more effectively which is pointless if you are not producing any.

Thanks for your reply.... As newly (Ish) diagnosed, the use of insulin scares the **** out of me.... And I'm still worried even though I don't need it yet...

Glicazide works by making your pancreas produce extra insulin from beta cells. I’d have thought that was counter productive in someone with failing beta cells (ie a type 1).
Metformin makes the body more sensitive to insulin although it’s main action is to reduce excessive glucose dumps from the liver into the blood.
