heights,
hi, im new to the forum but not that new to type 2 diabetes. ive been diagnosed 2 years now. im only 22 years old, and still very angry and confused with my diabetes. i hope i'll find some great support and advice on here, because im still struggling to get my blood sugars down! and both me and my doctors are confused as to why! ive done everything they've asked and taken meds and im now on insulin aswell!
hope to meet some people who maybe are in the same situation and any advice is welcome! my first time on a forum too!

Hi, Welcome :)

Please have a read of the forum, especially have a look at some threads regarding reducing your carbohydrates if you haven't already tried it, its very effective for many of us

best of luck

thanks guys :) yes ive tried reducing my carbs after seeing a diabetic specialist and him giving me a carbs and cals book, but to be truthful I really don't eat that many carbs in the first place. I don't want to be reducing it too much.

Hi. Have you considered the possibility that you may not be T2 but a Late onset T1 (LADA or T1.5). Your youth and the implication that you don't have many carbs gives a strong hint. I would ask the GP for a GAD and c-peptide test which might confirm the presence of GAD anti-bodies which sadly destroy the islet cells. My very slim 22 year old nephew was diagnosed with LADA a few years back after ending-up in A&E and is now on a T1 insulin regime

yeah the doctors have thought about me being type 1 but didn't think I needed to be tested just yet. got a review next week actually so that is something ill be asking them again about! I was diagnosed type 2 because when it was mentioned I could have diabetes I actually had all type 2 symptoms and im overweight. my diabetes was found by accident to be honest so I think it was just a quick match of symptoms rather than me having any actual tests!
