This is the only way to get rid of the message on the top of every page I believe. So here goes!
Hi I'm Nosher. I have a condition called Reactive Hypoglycaemia. I am not a diabetic. I have a condition that closely mimics type 2 diabetes in many of its symptoms including high spikes and hypos. The difference is that when I spike my Insulin flushes and produces to much Insulin and other cells not long after eating I have a reaction that goes into a hypo. This rebound effect has a bad effect of your body. The answer is not in introducing carbs or sugar too alleviate the symptoms but a very gradual rise to not create an up and down response to blood glucose levels.
I have been put on medication which has helped amazingly well and I can now eat low carbs and it's all trial and error what I can eat and drink. The number of meals has been reduced, from 6 small plates to 3 now, with a piece of fruit in between and a piece of 80% chocolate as my treat before bed. I am coming to terms with my condition, very slowly understanding my limits.
I will be on these inhibitors for the rest of my life, but no side effects as yet.
I have studied the wider affect of T2 diabetes. I was misdiagnosed asT2. So from what I have experienced, that gives an indication that medical advice especially on diet it interests me greatly.
The whole treatment of T2 interests me. Simply because the advice I was given contradicts the majority of advice given to T2 diabetics.
How come? Food has the same effect on me as it does to T2 diabetics!
Without medication sugars and carbohydrates are poisonous. Polyunsaturates are detrimental to my Liver and Pancreas.
I have had to give up smoking, alcohol, high GI carbs and a way of social activity that I had.
My family has helped me. Football has given me an interesting hobby as in watching my beloved Superwhites and coaching teenagers locally in a league.
God knows what I would do if I didn't have my telly for sport. I'm a Trekkie and I love reading especially history and the American Civil War.
This site has helped me enormously. Thanks to those who have chipped in with their thoughts and advice. Without them I would be struggling.
