Hi @Sparklebright625 the bladder infection sounds horrid and would have been bound to raise your BG. Your broken sleep because you’re still needing to get up at night several times will also cause raised BGs. It might be worth asking for a repeat urine culture to make sure the infection has been fully treated.

The gliflozin meds are associated with a nasty UTI problem called fournieres gangrene, where a sore or fissure in the genital area gets infected with a yeast infection that starts attacking the soft tissue. The blood in urine sounds like you have sprung a leak somewhere, and this may lay you open to a more serious condition, this should not be treated like a normal genital UTI. The other source of blood in urine could be a kidney infection, and that too will not normally respond to standard UTI treatment for thrush etc.

I think you need to bang on the surgery door or call 111 for a triage.

That is difficult. Without a culture being taken (urine sample) you do not know what you are dealing with. When I had my experience with Dapagliflozin, my sanple actually congealed in the post on the way to the lab it was that active. It went solid. In that instance I had to undergo some serious treatment with a heavy duty antibiotic. I am back on the dapa again now due to insistance from my GP and cardio that I have to have this med or else, and so far I have avoided the same problem, but I have had genital tenderness and fissures opening up due to the severe constipation. I have a topical cream to treat that and so far it has not grown any worse than an itch. But these meds have a bad press in this respect and should not be trifled with. It can be a bit more than waterworks playing up due to the yeasts feeding off the free glucose.

Not sure what to suggest. You cannot get a strong antibiotic without scrip, and you need to know which one is best for the organism causing the discomfort. Maybe discuss with pharmacist? or vist A&E if it gets worse? Try NHS 111 if in the UK. Wee stix can indicate infections but they have to be the multipart ones like the hospitals use.
