I think I have a neck longer than an ostrich. Honestly I still can’t get my head round this. A couple of weeks ago i though I had sussed it but have fallen off rails big time. After feeling like rubbish again have realised this isn’t going away without action. So here I am again. Am going to look back over my previous posts and start over and try and make these long term changes.

I buried my head so much I can’t find the monitor I’ve only had 6 weeks so have ordered a new one.

Has it taken anyone else a few attempts to start to crack this? Feeling like a complete failure, firstly because I have it and secondly that I can’t deal with it x

it does take time to take it into one's identity, but well it can be done, and when we have learned the lot of basic ways to twist one's choice of foods it isn´t actually that bad.
It can, in fact, be an interesting journey, so much great healthy food that we can eat, also delicious kind of treats and well when one has un-learned the scare of eating fats, that in itself can be rather delicious to eat fatty treats with a positive consciousness and joyful ...

@NikkieDuranie just coming back here is one step forward. You might find it easier to make one manageable change and build from there. The amount of information can be overwhelming at first, so pick something you think you can run with pretty easily and take it from there.

Good luck and do make full use of the forum - it’s a great resource.
 
Press reset and go again. You can do this. Keep coming back. Ask for support and help.

Are you able to pinpoint where and why you fell off the rails- good for you to know the triggers so you can develop coping strategies to deal with / avoid them.

Nikkie - I often refer to the forum as having a revolving door, because lots of peoplr find themselves needing to come back and back, when the bumps in the road knock them off-track.

My suggestion a this point would be to try to make things nice and simple and decide on a week, or maybe 2 weeks worrth of meals and write them down. One of the things I found, at the outset, was that I would be fed up of making food choices, because nothing was on auto-pilot.

My OH is the cook in this house, and he'd ask each day, "what's for dinner", and sometimes it just felt like too much to choose. With a bit of a list, at least it's easy to go to that and choose from there.

On a routine basis, we tend to plan meal for the week. I don't mean we plan it, and have x to eat on Monday, y on Tuesday and so on. It's more we decide on 7 dinners. Breakfast is usually the same or similar for us, then lunch, whe we have it, is a light salad for me and a sarnie for my OH, with dinner our main meal. We just mean we have 7 dinners planned, and by the end of the week, we'll have had those 7 meals. It makes shopping much simpler too.

One final thing is, if we do, say a casserole, we might have that on Monday and Wednesday or Thursday, to use up the leftovers.

It gets simpler over time, honestly.

You can do this, it does require changes but the benefits are enormous.
How about just starting with one meal a day being as low carb as you can make it? Do this for a little while then add a second meal being as low carb possible and so on. Any reduction you make in your carb intake will have a positive effect.
I suggested this to my partners mum, she made changes to her evening meal to start with. Within a week she was seeing good reduction in her BG numbers and a couple of pound in weight went. She was so spurred on by this she carried on and although she isn’t as low carb as I am she is doing well, in 2 months she has lost weight and been approved for surgery that she needs that was postponed earlier in the year because of her high numbers.
 
I also agree with the comment about planning meals in advance, yes ok, it can seem like a chore sometimes but it’s a great way of monitoring your food choices, it makes it a bit easier to stick to.
I tend to have the same breakfast most weekday mornings as it’s quick, filling and doesn’t require thinking about now, it’s my new auto pilot.
Lunches are simple salads with a nice dressing or mayo and a different protein source each day.
Evening meals are where I tend to use most of my carb allowance as I like to include s dessert if I can.
When I prep our evening meal I make the next days lunch and plan the evening meal, I pop it all into my app so I know what I’m having and where I can make adjustments if I want too. Hope this helps?
 
Just wanted to add that I found reading this forum everyday even for 10 mins in my lunch break really helped me to stay on track and feel less alone when struggling with the temptations all around.

Take it at your own pace, don't try for perfection. Each meal is an opportunity to make improved choices. Test, learn. move forward.
