Hi
I love reading this site it’s full of great articles and advice. I’m T2 diabetic and have been for 10 yrs now. I’m slowly loosing the fight of insulin free, my Hc thingy was 87 last time.
I ask please for some encouragement as I focus again on low carb, I can do it then I get raging cravings for carbs or something sweet and slowly but survive slip back into eating stuff that’s not good for me. I feel like I am yo-yo ing if that makes sense.
Would appreciate some tips or maybe support to keep going

I have struggled but I just keep trying. It got a lot easier for me when I literally had no carbs other than what you can’t avoid in veg or eggs etc.

Now I’m not saying it’s easy (last weeks debacle is testament to that) but it does get easier, not easy.

Funnily enough as soon as I went really low carb I felt better inside and my appetite dropped. Hugely dropped. I’m often forcing myself to eat because I know I should.

If I want something sweet I often have the highlights hot choc sachet. They don’t do anything. It’s my saviour. Or I just drink gallons of water.

I do miss the sweet. I’m nowhere near the I’m used to it. Sitting here now my mouth taste nasty and I just want something other than water I just don’t have it.

I remember to myself if I have one thing it’s gets really bad after, the cravings are hellish, mood swings and the such. So I don’t have them.

Carb killa bars are good just test after to make sure. Some are ok others spike me.

Otherwise it was just sheer avoidance fir a while. Nothing in the house, I took everything including drink with me. I avoided everything.

What sometimes works for me is if I’m with someone and they have cake, o have a tiny bit of it. Can’t do whole thing but the bite is enough. Actually it reminds me how sweet it is and I don’t crave it.

Otherwise it is just sheer determination. I know I won’t feel better and generally whatever pleasure I get bites me in the backside later with blinding headaches and the nasty withdrawals!!

Good luck!

Thank you Cana Bless you. I have had 2 boiled eggs this morning and preparing a salad for lunch, tea I’m struggling I’m working 2-10 tonight at hospital and the food there is horrendous for diabetes. I need to go to ASDA and look for some chicken or something. Have a great day and thank you for your reply, much appreciated

Take a cool bag filled with food. Unless I’m deliberately going out to eat I always have food with me. If I didn’t I’d end up eating all sorts.

Hi Tina
Warm welcome to the forum.

Welcome Tina, you have just taken a massive step in the right direction by joining this forum. Folks here are so helpful and kind. I like to bake a crustless quiche if I'm going somewhere that only has junky food. Eat some with some salad bits on the side, yum!
So many people on here have their diabetes in remission, it's very inspiring.

Hi chrestomanci it’s good to get so many replies it is encouraging thank you. I would love to end this yo-yo dieting and find a way to eat well and stay well. I think my issue is not accepting diabetes even though I have been for 10 yrs now, its ridiculous I’m a grown woman and throw my toys out of the PRAM because I can’t eat carbs grrrrr I need to get over myself and change my attitude really. Anyway the last 4 days I’ve got my sugars down to average of 7 ish so I am not only pleased with myself I’m feeling more energized, I need to get support to keep it that way as I’m so easily tempted to eat wrong things in the office then I get in my head oh well you’ve eaten a biscuit so you might as well write eating well off for the day and enjoy. Ridiculous isn’t it. I smile to myself as I text at my foolish way of thinking. Today is a new day and so far 2x boiled eggs And 6.9 reading
Thanks guys for your encouragement
