I'm gill, I have type 2 diabetes. Diagnosed 3 years ago wile I was in recovery from cancer treatment my GP recently put me on Metformin which made me rather unpleasantly unwell so I was changed to slow release and my second prescription is the brand Glucophage. I'm mid-40s, a mother of 5 (all grown up now) and a full time carer.

hi welcome :) after surviving cancer and five kids ill be sure not to pick a fight with you :)

Hi and welcome to the forum. I understand what full time careing involves as I cared for my father after his stroke up until 5 years ago when he was struck with lung cancer (40 a day will do that to you). He had a huge personality change after his stroke and was a very challenging man to help. I am currently looking after my mum who is riddled with arthritis but has an allergy to the meds that would help her most, all she can take is cocodamol but she is a doddle to look after compared with my father.

It must be difficult for you to cope with your own health problems as well as the person you care for but one thing I have learned from the past is that you must take a little time out for yourself every so often.

I was only diagnosed last Tuesday but the support and friendliness of the good folk on this forum is both welcome and encouraging. Good luck in all you do but remember to take care of yourself too.
