Hi. I'm new to this forum so please excuse my lack of knowledge.

I was diagnosed with T2 couple of years ago. I was managing glucose levels pretty well with metformin and diet until my shifts changed at work.

I work full time and now work a shift pattern that is 10hr shifts covering 2hrs a day. Lately I have been feeling more and more tired and dehydrated. I'm not eating regularly any more due to the shifts.
Is this normal?

And secondly
I have a glucose meter but don't tesr my levels purely because I don't understand when I should be testing (Ie before or after meals) or what glucose levels should be.

Any help, advice or guidance would be really welcome.

I'm fed up of feeling run down and really need to get my diabetes back under control.

Many thanks for reading this

Hi Mandy and welcome to the forums.

Take a look at this page for guidance...http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes_care/blood-sugar-level-ranges.html

Suggest you test before you eat and then 1hr and 2hrs after eating until you work out what various foods do to your levels.

There wiil be more people around later I'm sure, so ask as many questions as you need to.

Catch you later.

Hi Mandy welcome to the forum

I test in the Morning before breakfast and then in the evening before my evening meal . I then check 2 hours later .

i am sure other check in different ways, just see what suits you and your shift patterns

Hi and welcome. I'm new and only got my meter recently but trying to test my fasting level in a morning, when I get home from work and 2 hours after my tea. Hoping to add after breakfast and lunch from this weekend. If you go a long time between meals at work it might be worth trying to have a snack. Loads of useful info in the food section on the site.
