High before bed

Hi everyone

I have been an T1 diabetic for the past 24 year .

I have been taking tresiba for the past few years which has been ok currently on 18 units at around 10pm everynight.
Since the lock down I have realised that my bloods before bed are rising. This may have previously happened but I work shifts and dont always eat at the same time until now. i figured this time period at home would be perfect to get my levels better

For example yesterday my readings for my evening meal were 4.8 at 5.50pm
At 6.20pm they had risen to 7.6.
At 7.50pm it was still at 7. .

I would have presumed that this was the peak as it usually is during the day for me and that by the time I went to bed at 10pm it would have dropped back down to a reasonable level.

It was 10.4 at 11.20 pm

I have altered my evening dose from a 1:1 ration to a 1:1.5 as I thought it may have been that I wasnt doing enough evening insulin.

The rest of the day I am on a 1:1 ratio with no problems at all

Could the tresiba be running low or could I need a higher dose of it?

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Edit. Forgot to mention that this morning my bg was back to normal at 4.8 at 9am

Hmm, my googling suggests that Tresiba doesn't last 48 hours, just "over 42"whatever that means, so it's likely that there's less in your system just before you take your next dose.

Obviously I'm not a doctor so can't recommend on doses and you should talk to your doctor, but

If it's working fine overnight and over the rest of the day I'd be very reluctant to change it. If you're 4.8 in the morning an increase seems crazy. Maybe a bit of extra evening insulin, or a tiny top us at 8pm? Or maybe just live with a (temporary) reading of 10.4.... Or maybe you could delay your evening meal time, or make the Tresiba dose a little earlier???? The idea being that your evening bolus can cover you for when your Tresiba is low....

Good luck,

That is what I thought aswell I may start doing my tresiba 2 hours after my evening meal.

I have not eaten yet today and been doing bg every hour. So at 9 it was 4.8. 10 it was 5.2 and 11 it was 6.3.

So potential I could be doing to small of a dose?

I think I may try and up my basal by 2 units tonight and see if that keeps it more stable
