High Blood Sugar Levels

Hi I had a liver infection last week my blood sugar has been under control for 5 years now I am getting readings between 17.3 & 29.8. What should I do !!!!!

are you on an insulin pump or just injections suggest all bolus up by 50 % and background insulin 50 % try for 3 days check blood sugars before and after meals but be very carefull have you been to doctors .for any thing to ref liver try to then reduce dose next day if blood sugars come down a old rule was I UNUT OF FAST ACTING INSULIN REDUCE BLOOD SUGARS BY 2

On tablets 2 a day was only on 1 a day 2 weeks ago, Got to go back to the Doc's today to find out my blood test results.
 
Hi @Kevin63 and welcome to the forum. Any infection or illness will probably push your BS levels up. Mine were going up to 9.3 when I had a sore throat a couple of weeks ago, but are coming down again now.
29.8 does sound quite high but that might be because you had a liver infection. It's good that you will be seeing your doctor today, as you can ask her/him about this.

did no known u were type 2 so ignore my advice vic
 
Went back to the Doctors they have put my metformin up to 3 a day now which has only brought it down to 18 / 15 range.

It sounds to me they need to introduce some extra medication while you're dealing with the infection. I'm afraid metformin isn't that great with lowering your sugar levels, especially with the highs you're getting.

Maybe your doc can temporary put you on a basal insulin or something? I would think something your liver doesn't have to process would be better. Also on that note metformin works on the liver.... so no wonder it's not working too well if you've got an infection.
