I’ve been feeling pretty rough since the new year with virus after virus. I noticed about a month ago that I was much thirstier, using the loo a lot, extremely fatigued, headaches, weight loss, infections. I started to test my blood glucose levels again (I stopped because it was stable for ages). I was getting morning readings of 20-24. It would reduce to 18-16 after lots of water. Never going below 14.

I take Sitagliptin and metformin, I walk every day and eat low carb. After my recent diabetes review they said my control was poor and I’m booked in to see GP in morning. I’m worried.

Would anyone be able to shed any light on why it’s gone haywire?

If you are really eating low carb then my suspicion is that you are not type two at all.
Low carb foods are a powerful tool to lower blood glucose levels for a lucky type two and those doing your review should really have known better.
Hopefully your readings should ring alarm bells with your GP and you'll get some tests done and a true diagnosis of the problem.

Sitagplitin increases insulin secretion so it’s possible that over time your resistance has become worse and/or your pancreas is now failing. If this were the case then you would be both severely insulin resistant and simultaneously insulin deficient. Hopefully your doctor will be able to shed some light.
