Are you still in hospital? If not, I'd be going back there.
Good Afternoon,
My bs reading this morning at 08.45hrs GMT was 17.9, last night before bed it was 17.3..
My readings are high most of the time, for a T2 with the extra problems i have, i can live with this...
Normal readings for me is around 8 to 12, but even occassionally i have had bs's of 40+, and still been okay..
Blood sugar reading differ person to person.. Check with what your Diabetic nurse is happy with.. I only test morning and night, but have to test more if needs be..
Ps, If you drive, you are supposed to check before and after, and if you are higher than normal rest for 30mins before you set off.. also you must inform the DVLA as it can effect your driving.. I did and have now got a 3yr license (reviewed every 3 years)..

Hi everyone, this is Chermc and I am new to the forum, I have been a diabetic for approximately 3 years.
I have had a very bad cold/cough for about 3 weeks. I noticed that my vision was getting a bit blurred over the weekend but got worse on Monday. I went to the hospital and took a blood test which showed my reading as 27+. My reading has never been anywhere near that high before. The hospital checked my urine which contained a high level of Ketones (not sure exactly what that is). I was given insulin on a drip which reduced my blood sugar to a reading of 9 the following morning. I was put back on metformin and given Gliclazide. My sugar reading in the evening roses to 22. This morning I was given another medication Sitagliptin as my blood sugar remained high. I have just taken a reading and it is 15.8.
Has anyone experienced anything this?
Good Afternoon,
To reply to those who replied to my post, the following should be noted...
The DVLA info came from the DVLA Medical Team, so i wouldn't think that they got it wrong, do you???
From when my book started on 15th March to date my BS is between (at its lowest to highest):- 11.1 to 20.8... but when you are ill with other problems ie chest infections and I am taking antibiotics and steroids then it does effect your BS readings..
My problems medical wise doesn't just start and end with diabetes, i was born with a Genetic Disability that has NO cure, so i'm stuck with it and it's stuck with me for now the last 52 years..
Recently my specialist team at our local hospital have found the following:- A Cyst that formed in a pulpy piece of bone, but it goes right through the bone in my thigh and it does get very painful.. It will not be removed as i have Oesteoporosis... Next after a Neuorogical scan they found several disks not only in my back but also in my neck had crumbled, that causes more pain than ever, then 2 frozen shoulders, whiplash, swollen hips, the list goes on.. but i refuse to let anything defeat me, but my mobility (walking) is now down to about 12feet before the pain kicks in big time..
My meds total 30 on a morning, 8 at lunchtime and 12 before bed, so 50 daily, so rattling comes to mind.. but i'm already on Inslutard insulin 28units morning and 38units night-time, the diabetic & endochronoligst team allow me to change my units if i feel it necessary, as long as they stay informed..
Considering that someone mentioned weight, my weight is 19st 3lb now, as i was 30st in 1992, so with Slimming World i have lost quite a bit..
