I have had high blood sugar all day and haven't really done anything out of the ordinary. The most annoying this is I administrated 4 units of nova rapid when it was 17.2 about 8 o clock and it's only just come down to 9.9 . It's seems to be getting me down recently physically and emotionally, any advice?

Hi Mark....try not to get too down about it. I think maybe a lot have gone to bed but I am sure someone will have some answers for you tomorrow :) Welcome to the forum by the way.....hope things get better for you soon. Keep your chin up....it all takes time to settle down and you have come to the right place for help and advice

Hi Mark
welcome:)
a few thoughts on the high bloods

did you definitely take you long acting ?
you could change to a new cartridge of long acting and double check there is not a small crack in the old cartridge -- it could be leaking and not delivering a full dose.

also -- do you always do an airshot before injecting ?? in other words dial a couple of units and shoot them into the air to make sure insulin is fully loaded in the needle tip.

are you feeling ok ?? high bloods can be a sign of an infection or cold / flu on the way.
another potential cause could be additional stress -- bad day at work ? girlfriend issues ?? -- stress can be a cause.

if it is any help lots of us have the odd day like that -- it is really frustrating but trust me you are not alone

Hi Mark, it is only temporary when this happens, it's just typical life as a type 1 diabetic, sometimes it's easy to work out why, other times it just happens, regardless you shouldn't let it get you down if you can help it, we've all been there ;)

Thanks everyone for your advice, you have been great, my bloods are back to a stable level and I have taken everything you have said on board, much love :)
