Hi Everyone

I made cauliflower pizza last night and a bg of 6.2 before, later I found my bloods were creeping up and up and were still 11.4 this morning. Has anyone ever had this? think I will be giving it a miss from now on.

Thanks

What did you have on your pizza? It might have been caused by large amounts of protein. I believe some people have an issue with dairy or cheese raising their numbers.

Did you have tomatoes on it? Depending on what type you used (either from a carton, tin, tube or punnet) the carbs can vary a lot.

i had tinned chopped tomatoes, had cheese and frankfurter sausage on it.

Something strange going on there. Maybe just have a cheese snack to see what you BG response is to it?

Tinned tomatoes are lower carb than puree, so that's good.

Perhaps you could check the ingredients in your frankfurters. I just had a quick look online and some of them contain ingredients such as potato starch, wheat, lactose. Maybe they have affected your bg?

Did you enjoy your pizza? If so, maybe experiment with different toppings :)

Have you considered that the problem might be with the Pizza base rather than with the toppings.
What was the Pizza base made with or from ?
Possibly it's mainly down to the carbohydrate loading in the Pizza base !!!
Caulifower pizza is usually made with a base of grated caulifower, cheese and egg. I assume this is what the OP means rather than a wheat flour based one.

Did you use ready grated cheese from a bag? Some of these have potato flour added to keep the grated strands separate. the sachet should give clues. Otherwise, it the tomatoes or the plain old quantity consumed? Some of these things can be very moreish.

No I used Mozzarella??

I'm flummoxed too (not unusual). I'll give it a bump to see if anyone else can solve it. I like home-made pizza so I don't want it to be dodgy.

You sleep-walked to the fridge for ice cream?:)
If you enjoyed your pizza, give it another go with a different topping apart from cheese.
