I've always had high blood sugars i'm always worried about having a hypo if I go below 10 I start feeling low my dr has kept telling me I shall probably start loosing limbs if I carry on having high bloods but my hba1 was only 8 so I was pleased as they have been 15 and above I have been diabetic for 42 years think I'd be a professional by now

Yeah, you'll feel like you're having a hypo if it's been high for a while. Give it a week or two, watch it carefully (that means 7/8 tests a day), correct frequently, and you'll drag your "feeling hypo" down to 4.0.

Hi George10, have you always had high BG during the 42 years you have had diabetes? I'm new to Type 1 only 3 years and I was scared of hypos at first. I have one a week at least but only between 3.5 and 4 mmol/L and my body always tells me so I can reach for the Glucotabs which I carry with me at all times. For me hypos are not a big deal as I always get the warning signs (weak legs etc), but I still need to make sure I don't get too many as I don't want to lose my hypo awareness.

as time goes by you probably will loose your hypo awareness I have had laser treatment 6 times in both eyes but now they say my eyes are pretty good just slight scaring tissue in the back of the eye one hypo a week isn't too bad though

Im working a lot of the time so don't get much of a chance to do too many blood test but I do try to do more thanks for the response

Testing blood glucose is an absolute MUST. Try and dream up a way of doing it at work. The fact you can't test is not allowing you to correct. Not correcting us raising your blood glucose. This is damaging your eyes and damaging your perception of blood glucose.
It's really quite important this one for your health. Seems to me that if you can find a way of testing at work you'll get all this sorted.
