I would like to know if it's possible to have high bloodsugars at very... Very early stages of pregnancy?
There's a chance i could be 1 to 2 weeks pregnant. My blood sugar level has been good and is usually always good and within the range it should be. But this evening it went from 6.2 to 18.1 within a couple of hours and with no expanation.
I seem to be taking lots of extra shots and still staying high.. For a few days now.
Anyone experienced that before?

Hey ,
I have seen that no one has replied as of yet .

I'm not yet preganant , I have been told by my pre conception clinic first trimester I'm more likley to have hypos . But I'm pretty sure somewhere on here I have read that people have experienced high readings during the first bit of pregnant .

Hopefully someone will answer your question properly for you soon .

Take care and good luck .

Hi Lauren. I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant and found right at he beginning in first few weeks had some unexpected highs which made me panic. This is completely normal and just needs rapid correction. Hypos as Chloe said are the main problem in first trimester but I found this tended to be a problem after a few weeks in, not straight away.
Have you had a positive test yet? If so get straight in touch with your DSN and they should be able to help. Let me know if you've got any other questions.
Good luck!

I haven't taken a test yet as it's too soon too tell. I suppose another week or so and I will be able to know for sure.

We are trying to conceive but with these high blood sugars I'm partly hoping I'm not pregnant because its so stressful knowing it could be doing damage :/ My doctor gave me the go ahead to start trying because my blood sugars were perfect.... So.. If I'm not pregnant may we should stop trying for a while :/ Just worry so much about what damage high sugars can do during fertilization. :/

Thanks for all your answers :)

Hi Lauren84,

I'm in a similar situation to you, waiting to test. I am also having horrid highs particularly in the mornings. I seem to remember. It from my first pregnancy four years ago. I know what you mean about worrying that it's doing damage but I think as long as you act on it and get it down it should be ok, it's the prolonged highs that do the damage. Welcome to the blood sugar roller coaster you will be on it for the next 9 months if you are pregnant! Fingers crossed for us both xx

Thanks for your replies :) Have had another day of crazy highs. Even when I feel like I'm taking huge amounts of insulin I still seem to be a little high.

It's so hard because I want to be pregnant so badly but on the other hand I think I'll be relieved if I'm not coz I feel so out of control!

These highs are so abnormal that I'm convincing myself i must be pregnant.. I'll be totally gutted if I'm not but terrified if I am.. Such a confusing stressful time. So glad of places like this where people are goin through similar things... Diabetes is hard enough ...pregnant and diabetes scares me to death lol!

Does anyone know how soon a urine test for pregnancy at the doctors would pick up a positive result...? I assume it would be sooner than the home kits? :)

Actually they are notorious for being less sensitive! The best one to get would be either a super drug one or a first response early result and I speak from experience!

So glad someone else is experience unusual and unexplainable highs! Was beginning to think I was all alone on that one. Think I'm about 6 weeks and still getting random high blood sugars during the night and in the morning.
