A nurse warned you about sore fingers? Shaking my head here. That is dumb beyond belief. First up, testing does not hurt at all (change fingers, adjust lancet settings etc) unless you are averse to the entire procedure. You shouldn't be but I understand if you are. Put it this way, if you don't test, you don't know. And test you mustI have just had my six months check up and have been told I have to use a blood glucose monitor (I have type 2 diabetes I am trying to control with pills and diet)
I have had my metformin changed to slow release to help with the side effects (diarrhoea!) I have lots of pills at least 3 quote this as a side effect!
I am disabled I can barely walk diarrhoea is the last thing I need! I cant rush to the loo!!
Anyway I have been told NOT to check my bloods too often as i will get sore fingers and wont be able to do much if I do have a problem (helpful nurse at our practice!?!)
well I have managed it twice so far the first time it read 18.8 (on 28/02/2015) and today it was 19.9 (03/03/2015) but I have been ill all day due to medication problems and the good old diarrhoea so when I did the blood test I was 'empty' of food.yet it read 19.9 what am I doing wrong??
how can I lower it I saw on the internet you should exercise loads and drink lots of water I cant exercise but I do drink water,I am teetotal and don't smoke or drink tea or coffee.
I am very worried please advise.
Thank You
Hi f1honey money,
Sorry to hear of your misery, but glad to learn that you have a glucometer. You mention that you are using a diet to help you control your blood glucose values. If you read through the posts in this forum you will find that most people use the Low Carbohydrate High Fat diet to control their blood glucose values. Which kind of diet are you following ? . By the way you dont need to do exercises to drop the BG values.
a change of diet will mess you around till you get use to it, but LCHF is good for your IBS toowhat sort of foods are on this diet?I also have severe food allergies which make me seriously ill,I cant digest fat so I don't eat high fat food,so I don't think I would be able to follow that one.i am also lactose intolerant and am allergic to eggs and have ibs.if I try to eat fatty food my stomach says no and i am back in my second home(the loo)
I am just eating carefully when I was first diagnosed in 2014 I also have pcos I weighed 30.2 stone I now weigh 23.3 loosing weight is very hard with pcos too.i haven't got a particular diet just trying to manage with
