High Glucose levels

I hate being a Diabetic and having Cancer Injections. I totally hate very long cold winter nights, I don't do excersise as I am too laid back to care about it.
Hello everyone.
I am having a rough weekend at the moment my glucose level as gone up again this is from Friday. I tested my blood on Friday lunchtime and it was sitting at 12.4 I then tested at Tea Time and it had gone up to 17.3 but it was around 20:00 I found out that after I had checked out something on Google well to cut a long story short it looks like I am losing blood it's either coming from my stomach or it's high up in my colon as my poo looks like seriously black tar my glucose level is still high. They tell you on the tv not go to your doctors and not to go to A&E but to see your local pharmacist but worse of all I am on Warfarin and have been for the last 7 years. I am scared and frightened that I could lose my life. I just don't know what to do I am thinking of giving my Diabetic nurse a call but they are never in.
 
Hi @Deltic man, I think you need to contact your GP first thing tomorrow, or phone 111 now if you're in the UK. I think on the adverts they just mean for minor things like rashes or aches and strains, things like that. I think with you being on warfarin you need to get yourself checked out, but try not to worry too much. Have you had your INR checked recently?
 
Hi @Deltic man. I would say that in your case it would definitely be worth calling 111 for advice. If they think that you need to be seen, or spoken to by a doctor today they can arrange that. If their assessment is that it would be better to arrange an appointment or call from your own GP, they can also arrange that too.

As @sleepster said, the advice to talk to your pharmacist is for more minor ailments such as colds and sprains etc. Your present concerns are not minor, and if nothing else it may help to reassure you a little.

Illness will make your blood sugar go up so it isn't necessarily a diabetes issue. I strongly recommend you to call 111.
 
Hi,

I'll put in for a 111 call. An advisor on the phone will send a ambulance if required.

You need to talk to an HCP.

I have colon cancer and one of the tell tale signs was blood in the stools and on the toilet paper, I was taken off anti coagulants (Xaralto) which has stopped a lot of the bleed from the malignant polyps (largest is 50mm in size) in my colon.

I was given three options for the cancer I took option three "palliative care".

Go and see your GP as soon as possible for blood and faeces test.

I second the suggestion of phoning 111 straight away, don’t wait til morning, bleeding from anywhere can be serious especially if you’re on anticoagulants such as Warfarin
 
Hi everyone.
Thank you for all your replies I am due my INR test on Tuesday morning but I am going to ring my doctors tomorrow morning and hopefully get appointment with them I shall tell the receptionist that I need to see a doctor urgently. I am wondering if my prostate is causing me problems . I will let you know the outcome, thanks again for your help
 
I don’t think your prostate would be the cause of blood in your poo. I repeat, if I was in your position I’d phone 111 tonight. Bleeding is a red flag for Drs and no one will think you are making a fuss.

I keep putting it off to ring them but I am in the frame of mind that if I leave it it will clear up on it's own but we all know that is not the case and it's got to be checked out.

I thought like you that the bleeding would clear up and go away as if nothing happened, it was not until another blood test showed that my iron amd red and white blood counts were out of wack. I was sent straight away to get a stool test and more blood tests done over easter time this year.

Results came back that I had a bad internal bleed from somewhere in the bowel, and within a week I was given a colonoscopy at the local base hospital. They found the polyp in the sigmoid colon that was bleeding but could not remove it as it was to far advanced.

Cut a long story short, if I had not ignored it I might not be in the terminal condition that I am now.

Go to the doctor mate, get fixed up before it gets worse.

Hi there, I do agree with the others about calling 111. Please don't be put off by thinking 'it's an emergency number, am I bothering them', it is for people to use when they are not sure whether it's an emergency or not, that's its whole point. I know many people don't like making phone calls so you can go online to the 111 system and fill in the details, they will ask you to describe it all, then they give you a written instruction such as ' See your GP', or 'We will get a Dr to call you' or 'We will send an ambulance', etc, dependent upon your symptoms. It's a really good system and your circumstances are perfect for it. Hope this helps.
