So really confused here. Returned home with bg of 6.7, had a very low carb dinner (chicken salad). I made sure there was less than 30g of carbs in the meal and two hours later reading was 9.7. 15g did come from half a white pitta, but I simply can't explain the spike. Including dinner I've had 95g of carbs total today. Anyone with any suggestions on what I've done wrong?

Returned home after??

Salad dressing?

The rise in blood sugar levels per gram of carbohydrate consumed will vary from person to person but if you take a look at this....

......tends to indicate that (depending on your weight), 30g of carbs could cause a rise of 6mmol/L (30 × 0.22) if you're 75kg.

You don't give many details on what you normally eat or what your sugars usually are so its virtually impossible to say.. maybe the white pitta was the cause.. I think it would be for me..

My money is on the white pitta. You are not doing anything wrong - you eat, you test, you make necessary changes. Perhaps try the same meal again without the pitta and compare the results.

The pitta would do that to me. White being the problem. But we are all different. And I bet if you ate it again with exactly the same starting BG it would probably give a different post prandial reading. All depends what's going on in so many departments!
