Type 2 High levels

Yesterday I had my first check since being diagnosed with type 2 3 weeks ago, the nurse prescribed Gliclazide as my morning and evening levels are still quite high even though I have had no bread or potatoes etc.
I took 1/2 a tablet tonight as prescribed 30 minutes before eating and then Metaformin during my meal, level before food was 9.3 and 2 hours after it was 15.6.
I had a homemade chicken kiev and salad so wasn't expecting it to be so high as been around the 9 mark all day.
I'm really struggling with food and don't know what to eat for the best.
Las Tuesday I decided to just eat what I wanted so had 2 crumpets for breakfast, fish and chips for lunch and 3 hours later had a reading of 5.3 the lowest I have had since being diagnosed

Did your Kiev have breadcrumbs? For some reason that sends my levels really high - I cannot even have fishfingers these days and I used to love a fishfinger sarnie ....

You just never know what is going to send your sugars up - its all trial and error x

Thanks magsiesss, I realised it must be the breadcrumbs but as it was homemade I thought it might be better than a ready made one
