Before breakfast my mmol/l average is 7.5 but the rest of the day it is very high having been 16.2 I never feel ill or have any obvious symptoms and try to eat sensible and usually cook in an air fryer.

Hi @Carlton14

What do you consider “eating sensibly” what’s considered a healthy diet such as the eat well plate isn’t always the best diet for T2 diabetes.

Can you tell us what medication, if any you are on as it helps forum members to tailor their advice better, many of us T2 use a low carb or Keto lifestyle to control our blood glucose but if you are on hypo inducing meds such as insulin or Gliclizide you need to be careful when reducing your carbs

I take Gliclazide, Metformin, Forxega and Sitagliptin
I do not smoke or drink alcohol, I drink black coffee without any sweetener in a morning and green tea at other times and fizzy water, I also drink 2 table spoons in a glass of water apple cider vinegar, I eat avocado toast for breakfast, and I eat Strawberries and blueberries, I eat fish but still my levels are high. I test with a Tee2+

Ok :) what about carbs how much carbohydrate are you eating, e.g. rice, pasta, potatoes etc, how much bread are you eating with your avocado toast, how many berries do you eat and do you have any cream of full fat yogurt with them?

I see you are hypo inducing drugs but maybe your carbs can still be tweaked a little, do you test right before eating and 2 hours after first bite?

Sorry for all the questions but it really does help to have as much info as possible:)

@Carlton14
Maybe counting up the carbs you are eating each day will shed some light on why your numbers are high.
My personal limit is 40 gm of carbs a day so I stay in normal numbers all the time. With the medication you are on you do need to eat some carbs for them to get rid off, which is why many type 2s try to stay off medication and use low carb eating to get control.
That does assume that you are an ordinary type 2, not something more interesting or even misdiagnosed.
Maybe try slight reductions in the carbs you eat - and different times of day might be influential too, and checking on the increase in BG levels before and after eating to see if you can spot a pattern.
