Hi there, what type are you and could you give us a typical day's meals at all and whether you are on any medication? How long have you been diagnosed and what was your previous result, does the '9' relate to an hb1ac test? Sorry for sounding nosy but the information really helps when people are mulling the question.

hi thanks for reply, the 9 is test at home normal is 7 highest .diagnosed 2007 break fast porridge sometimes add pean ut butter a little or honey half banana . or eggs avacado no bread . 3 pieces of fruit a day apples pears . lunch salad with anchovies /or humus cue. maybe tuna onion wrap . dinner mostly fish/ chicken. loads veg or salad. or homemade soups. have take away curry now again not often. dont drink , iwalk 5 to 10 miles 3-4 times a week. im on metformin twice daily . i have been really strict for a while exercise diet etc. few years back never took as serious. iwas hoping to reverse it but was really shocked by readings. lve looked up about covid effecting readings some say it does some say no. could actimel cause spike. or vitamin d spray . i weigh 13 st 10lb down from nearly 18 st2 thanks dave

You are eating quite a lot of carbs there. Metformin can make a difference but in my experience it reduces over time. Weight loss Has probably helped, but even with the weight loss the metformin May no longer be having the impact you are used to.

I’ve lost a load of weight and my average bloods are now in the 5s and I’m on 1000mg metformin but if I eat too many carbs I spike. I suspect if I ate what you describe daily then I’d be averaging 7s too.

Compared to your experiences, I’m relatively new to all this. I too had COVID19 and my HbA1c was raised by three points and subsequently dropped back after four months recovery. Might I ask, what was your last HbA1c? If I was to eat Banana, Honey and porridge I would also spike, but gradually come down again. I don’t do anything like your exercising. I’m battling to stay within the 6s.
