High Reading On Metre

My last reading which was done about 10 mins aho was 19.4 . My diabetic nurse wants it to be between 8 and 12.2 as was only diagnosed about 2 weeks ago i got taken into hospital with dka i am type 1. Physically im slim build. Do anyone have any help to get it back down to safe levels. Im on novorapid 3 times 2 units breakfast lunch and evening tea and 1 times 4 units of abasaglar for bed time.

Hello, do you know what is your correction dose?

Can you ring your diabetic nurse? My guess is that they've started you on a low dose of insulin because they don't want to risk you going hypo (blood sugar less than 4). Normal advice on correction doses may not work because they still haven't worked out your maintenance doses....

I was on 4 units of novorapid 3 times a day and abasaglar 12 units at night they lowered my dosage last week as my blood sugars were too low. My readings have been good until this afternoon now they are high unfortunately i dont know my correction dose as ive only just started seeing the diabetic nurse.
