I think I know the answer but wanting some peace of mind.

Have been ill since Monday with sore throat, chesty cough, lots of phlegm etc. Now just seems to be tail end of a cold, running nose etc.

My readings this week have been in the 10s and today 11 even though I have hardly eaten anything.

I know the liver creates glucose when ill but is this normal to be that high. Numbers had been in the 6s previously prtetty constantly.

Being ill is bad news for diabetics it appears.

Hi I'm looking desperately on here, as I'm type 2 diabetic on insulin since 2009 however I've had a bad cough for a while and my sugars tonight are reading 25.3 I did 12 units fast, acting 45 minutes ago it was 22.9 then so still rising rapidly not sue what to do my hearts racing and pounding

Hi @DEB6784 are you able to test for ketones?

To be honest if I were in your situation I'd ring 111 at a miminum and dial 999 if I had reason to suppose that DKA might apply.
