Having a colonoscopy today and as part of that had no food since lunch, about 1, yesterday. Not had my meds either, type 2. My sugars have been in range , around 7 all that time, now my reading has gone up to 10.8 and is rising. How on earth can that be when 3verything has been evacuated from my body, prep meds.

If you haven't put anything in the glucose is coming from you. Your body is simply moving stored glucose from your liver, where you can't see it, into your blood where you can.
The reason is possibly because you haven't eaten for a while or the stress of your upcoming procedure.
Whatever the reason your body thinks it needs some energy, that's why it keeps a store of glucose, to give you a boost if you need it.

You're probably getting nervous before the procedure, consciously or subconsciously (that one is always much trickier), and your body responds to it. Stress hormones inhibit the action of insulin in the body and at the same time activate the release of stored glucose to the body. The classic flight or fight response - the body is preparing to either have enough energy to run or to fight, since it doesn't really know there's no need for it.
