Hi my sugar levels are above 33.3 on my blood sugar machine but have no ketons what should i do?

Wash hands in warm water, re test to confirm reading. If similar take your usual correction dose if you use qa. Re test after 1,2 hours to ensure on way down. Any reason as why that high ?

I just washed my hands and it came up warning above 33.3 also tested ketons they are 0.1 done inculien about 30mins ago think it might be because i have the cold think its starting to go in my chest xx

Illness will push it up, advisable to increase basal during illness by 20%, as well as increasing bolus ratios. Obviously test more than usual. Keep a note of your current insulin doses as when you are better you should go back to them. Sort of like starting from scratch, finding correct ratios again when ill :(
are you pumping or injecting ? As could be the insulin itself.
How you feel better soon, and keep your fluids up :)

I dont get basal and bolus whats that mean?? Iv never been told that and i have been diabetic 13years.. I am on novomix 30 wich is a mix of fast and slow inculien will i need to go to the hospital cos ita so high i feel rubbish feel so thirsty i have drank 3l of water in an hour and thats not me exaggerating lol yhank u xx

Yep, get to a and e. Basal bolus is when you have either 1 or 2 doses of slow acting insulin, and 3 doses of qa (quick acting insulin) not sure what to do in your situation with novomix apart from suggesting to at least phone out of hours gp or go to a and e. Needs sorting asap before you do develop ketones as doesn't take long and by being very thirsty a sign they may be coming.

Aww i see thats what i used to be on 3 does of 20units of novomix and 40 units x 2 of levimer i preferd it that way just checked it again still 33.3 well says above that will wait another hour see how it is if i do e 30 of novomix 30 i think it would have been 9 units of fast inculien and then 21 of slow acting its hard fixing it out with this one lol xx

Hi sorry to bother you but I've had a really good week of bloods and about 3pm my bloods were 18 and I corrected 2 hours later was 19 corrected again had tea and did the right ratio etc tested again and was 22 correction, tested just now and 22 I've got no ketones and had a correction!! Help

Hey sarah, would change pens, and being that high take another correction, might an odd day, but if high again tomoz maybe increase qa ratios. Depends on what, when you've eaten and activity so can't really advise too much. Basal ok?

Hi was trying to post a reply but went off for some reason iam on a mix Humiln m3 but never heard of levimr with that, id just hold fire see what happens in next couple hours or so, keep drinking loads of water or diet squash whatever you should wee aload of sugar out if your ketones do go up to 3 or 4 then it might be worth a trip, id look up this nova rapid stuff too, I have 2 injections a day of mix, and if I really have to can have the odd unit of quick acting insulin usually wears off after a few hours, spose to each unit bring it down by a few mmol etc...water and keeping weeing should bring it down abit, but without any rapid insulin its a lot harder to bring down.

I think it was novorapid even one fast one slow.. Checked it again still over 33.3 i done 30 of the novomix 30 .. Mine has beeb ok since i got the cold xx

That needs to be sorted, in the meantime, really, get to a and e. Prolonged reading like that justifies it.
