Hello, My wife conceived but we were not aware until 12 weeks, as she has PCO issue. She didn't get any other symptoms other than a delayed period. So we missed testing NT scan and other.
Now we got to know, she has a higher HbA1c of 11.6%. Doctor saying baby may get heart issue after delivery, we can't predict now but 90% of chance. We are very sad and clueless. Consulting more doctors and going to NT scan today.

Kindly suggest us, Is it really going to affect the baby? Any other way to prevent? or we should terminate?

Thank you very much for reading.

@Diakat , @PenguinMum Thank you for replying.
NT scan cameout really good.
We have consulted two gynecologists, teo diabidia specialists. One doctor says, there is 90% chance that baby cells may have already affected during 1-8 weeks and we can't figure it out with tests. We wil get to know only after delivery. As of now physical formation is good but can't predict brain or heart problems. So this is highly at risk.

Another doctor says, we can continue as baby is doing good in scans. We will keep checking with more tests,an early TiFFA..etc.

I want to know more about, what could be possible abnormal or heart related issues with higher HbA1c. Can't find much in google search. Are there any previous cases, to readup and convince my wife mentally? She isvery worried both the ways.

Thank you

You could try a medical database such as PubMed rather than Google, but your doctors are best placed to provide advice on this.

Hi I just wanted to give some reassurance. I also have Pcos and had a Hba1c of 9.6 when I found out I was pregnant. I was told to terminate as baby would most likely end up with serious birth defects and high risk for down. I very quickly got my Hba1c to 6 and had a perfectly healthy baby apart from a few breathing problems at birth
