Higher than normal bs and ketone levels

Hi all

I've just completed my weekly 1/2 marathon run and pretty much had to drag myself along for the last 4 miles due to getting a headache and stomach ache? I've never felt like this whilst running before. My sugars this morning before the run were 8.0 (this is also slightly high for me, normally around 5-6 in the morning) had a bulletproof coffee and set off on the run. At around 9 miles started getting a headache and stomach ache and starting to feel lack of energy so took 1 glucose tablet. Got home feeling pretty rough check sugars..... 12.0 and Ketones 2.0. I've now eaten and taken relevant insulin. Would just like to know if these levels are dangerous, I know it's a good ketone level but along side a highish bs I'm not too sure?

Also my family had a takeaway last night and I had a handful of chips - probably the most carbs I've had in one go in a few months. My carb intake is very low so even this amount of chips would keep me below my daily quota! Could this be the cause?

Don't take this the wrong way, but there becomes a certain point when you need to evaluate if a diet/nutrition approach just isn't for you.

Of course, we are all here to learn, but I've noticed that you're making several new threads a week and most of them are essentially asking the same thing. Again, asking questions is how we learn but I see a lot of signs that suggest maybe this isn't the right approach for you.
 
@TorqPenderloin I've not taken it the wrong way but without some of the advice from this forum I probably would be back on my old diet. Lchf has done wonders for me (believe it or not!) but the transition has been harder than expected but my life as an extremely active T1 has never been easy. If you can go from eating carbs to a lchf diet without any problems then that's great but we're not all the same and have different requirements. As Dr's won't give you the time of day when it comes to lchf diets the only place to turn is these forums. If anybody gets fed up with numerous posts from people having difficulties ignore them if you can help then do so. I've posted numerous times about getting into ketosis which is where I am now thanks to advice given here. One problem solved seems to lead into other problems but now I'm here I can give advice on how and what I did when I had problems. When things change for no apparent reason (which it has today) then it's great to learn from it, but the best way to learn is sometimes is from people who've been through the same problems.
I appreciate your post and this reply definitely isn't supposed to sound sh#×ty but if it does I apologise in advance! :D
 
I'm new to LCHF and to testing, but one thing that surprised me today was that I started to feel pretty rubbish mid-afternoon, with what I have always assumed were hypo symptoms, but when I tested I found that my BG was actually higher than normal. I wonder whether this could have been what happened for you at around 9 miles, in which case the glucose tablet may have exacerbated the problem?
 
@ruthytoothy having thought all day about it I think you've hit the nail on the head. I don't normally need any glucose tablets on my runs so this would make sense. Putting it down to experience and actually feel OK now I've sorted myself out. Thanks for your thinking!
 
reckon it was the high starting off blood sugar that was responsible for the ****** feeling, the glucose tablet would've just made it worse. When your control is good even the slightest raise outside your normal levels would make you feel **** thats how it is with me. Add ketones on top of that and bingo headache and sick stomach. least now you now what caused it and can remedy it in the future.
