Tomorrow night i'm throwing a party for family and friends, amongst the hoards of kids will be Andrew my T1 son. He carb counts, so he'l have a lowish carb early dinner at about 5pm, party starts at 7pm. This way by the time they all arrive and go out trick or treating it'l be a good 3hrs after his last humalog. I'll let him pig out within reason and bolus for it, and that will be the hard part and i'll probably guestimate what he needs. Its 1 night and i'll let him enjoy, if he's high before bed i'll give him a couple of units to help bring him down along with his Levemir.

Sorry, no personal experience but here are some sources of advice
Halloween advice from the USA
http://www.diabetes.org/for-parents-and-kids/halloween.jsp
http://www.diabetesselfmanagement.com/articles/kids-and-diabetes/tips_and_tricks_for_halloween/1/
and the UK
http://www.diabetes.org.uk/Guide-to-diabetes/Guide-to-Diabetes-extra-pages/Halloween/

In a poll on the children with diabetes forum Almost two-thirds of parents reported letting their children collect candy saving and eating it by integrating the carbs into their normal meal plan

Ewan is going to a party tomorrow and trick and treating tomorrow night, his bs is low the past few days so he,ll have a few treats and knowing him will prob burn them straight off with exercise. I,ll keep the rest of his goodies for snacks and before gym.
