Hole in heart

Hi there. I am type 2 diabetic and recently has a stroke. The doctors found a large hole in heart and it was the likely cause of the stroke. I have had it closed with a device. Has anyone else had a hole closed? I want to be able to get back into hard exercise but although I have been told that the risk of another stroke is greatly reduced I would like to hear from others.

Sorry I haven't, only knew a young boy years ago who was found to have this and also had surgery. To stop your post disappearing down the forum , you might need to keep bumping it back up to the top so people don't miss it. Hope someone can advise further.

Yep 'ME' had a patent ductus arterial heart repair - hole in heart .
Hole was grafted with some special mesh allowing scar tissue to seal the hole .
Has left me still with a systolic heart murmour too .

One way to strengthen the heart muscle is to breathe correctly and regular gentle exercise .
Build things up gentley and slowly I was told .
I was breathing all wrongly initially - probably from being terrified
They taught me how to breathe and gentle exercise etc .
I gradually built this all up as I grew stronger over time .
