Holiday Help

I was diagnosed 8 years ago and in that time I've never had to organize my own venture to another country. Recently I've been planning to join a few University friends on a road-trip from one side of the US to the other. I'm very excited, but a few problems regarding my diabetes management have arose. We will be on the road most days and I am under the impression that stopping at 'civilized' spots (hotels, motels, ect.) are going to be rare. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or experience with this sort of thing, in relation to how I can safely store my insulin whilst we're traveling. The other thing is health insurance, as I know that the US runs things a little differently than they do here in the UK. Any help any of you can offer would be very much appreciated :)

When I go stateside I take twice as much medication as I will need split into two, half in carry on, half in the hold.( don't know about insulin in the hold though.
Also you will need a 2 year ESTA, available on line, cost abot £10 or less, and I take a ' Fit to travel 'letter from my consultant at Papworth listing all current medication.

Never had a problem or been challenged.

Good luck, enjoy your trip !
