Hi All,

I will be flying to Spain in a couple of weeks for the first time since starting insulin. Is it true I need confirmation from my GP to take needles etc in hand luggage?
Also any tips about coping with injections 3 times a day while on the move and in warmer climes gratefully received.

Dr gave me a letter to take with me saying I was carrying insulin. When my bags were scanned at the airport I heard an operator say to a colleague 'thats an insulin pen'. They never asked me, I never said anything.

I have a letter from doc but I've never been asked to show it. Airport security are well used to seeing insulin and needles etc. Some airlines will also accept copy of repeat prescription. As for heat, I use a Frio Bag ( Amazon or other places ). Test regularly and you may find you need less insulin than normal. Take spares of everything and enjoy hols :-)
