You will be pleased to know that after 4 weeks in hospital, I finally got discharged. However, my blood sugars are still not stable but we are getting there.

I had readings above 12 during the weekend but didn't tell the GP as that would Habe been go to the hospital scenario...no way Hosé.

Unfortunately, that then led to me having a hypo yesterday morning, so treated it then 4ang the GP. Adjustments to the meds again.

Today, I had drifted off early and woke up during the night, not feeling great so checked BSL and it was 12.7 2am.

I checked it again this morning and it was 12.1 at 08.59. This means they need to be tested again in hour time and if still over 12, 5hrn need to rung the Gao. I'm just so scared they are going to send me back to hospital.

I've had Oatabix for breakfast. I did want to have toast but then not sure how this would act on the BSL's and might send them haywire.

It is very confusing but I need to get my head around this.

Any advice to keep me out of the hospital???

Can you please confirm T2D and using insulin. If you are insulin dependant, do you use fixed dose regime or a basal/bolus regime? It would help to know this before offering any comments.

as an insulin user, Oatibix are viable but perhaps not the best choice while your sugar levels are unstable, and not really the best if on fixed dose.

PS I am not an insulin user so not speaking from personal experience. But I know what Oatibix does to my sugar levels and its a no-no for me.

Oatabix are likely to have a similar effect to toast. It’s all grains/cereals and mostly carbs.

Oatibix, 2 biscuits = 32g + milk, probably = 40g of carbs
Thick sliced bread for toast, around 20g x 2 = 40g of carbs
They both should have roughly the same impact on your blood sugar, although plenty of butter on the toast would delay the absorption of the carbs, so in this case toast would probably have been a better choice.
(can't believe I've just said toast was a better choice )

Hi @whyme_again and congratulations for (finally ) getting out of hospital.

As the others have said, it would be helpful to know what insulins you are taking (if any) and whether you are supposed to be taking fixed doses of carbohydrates or adjusting your insulin according to your levels and food.

It's great that you were able to cope with a hypo and that you are able to contact your team for help on dosing.

Like the others I am skeptical that they would send you back to hospital for a bg of 12.5 but I know that you have complex medical needs (and medications?) and so normal T1 and T2 rules may not apply. (You don't want to know what my bg was when I woke this morning )

Honestly, in your position, I think the most important thing is to keep in close contact with your team.

Good luck.
