When people who know nothing about the LCHF diet tell me I'm killing myself being on it. I was killing myself not being on it!
I went to the Orkney Science Festival and attended a talk on the health effects of local honey. The lady said that honey was good for diabetics, better sugar. Is that really true? I have 6 jars to last me until the next honey season in September, but still waiting to use it. It really is wonderful honey and I'm waiting to use it.

Marketing people eh? Honey sugar/fructose, is the same as that in fruit. Everyone's reaction to it is different. Check with your meter!

Honey has the same affect on my blood glucose levels as pure white refined sugar, which is a shame because I used to love it.

If you want to try it then start with a small amount and use your meter to test for how much it affects you. It affects me very, very quickly.

I too read that unprocessed honey was good for diabetics. I do use a bit in a marinade when I do pork or chicken, it gives it a good colour and you get the stickiness.

I queried how it could be good for diabetics and was told its a natural sugar..... She was selling a cookery book on honey, so of course it is good for everyone! I know honey on a cut helps it to heal.

Any sugar is bad for diabetes generally. It's a sugar, albeit fructose. Have a little and test afterwards and then you will know.

I use a very small amount in some recipes - 1 - 2 teaspoons for 6 servings - sometimes there is just no substitute for something - sesame chicken - sweet chilli sauce/dip - it's all about portion control and size of portion. Doesn't affect my bs but everyone needs to test to see how it affects them individually
