Have you tried phoning your specialist's secretary to ask if you can be seen sooner? Explain what problems you're having. If that's not possible, ask for the best number to get a DSN on, or ask to be transferred as they may have an internal number that gets answered quicker.
Basically, push and don't get shoved to one side.
If I were you, at your stage, I would IMMEDIATELY switch to a Bernstein diet....
approx. Is that really how many T1s there are? Me and my girl really are special! Lol.
If you go with the last set of DUK stats, from a year ago, there are 3.5mm PWD of which 10% are PWT1D, so we're about 350k. Or around 0.5% of the population. Is that really how many T1s there are? Me and my girl really are special! Lol.

Not entirely. Bernstein's theory is that auto immune attack does not kill all of the beta cells and the remainder are killed off by high glucose. So in essence really tight control, aided by low carb, could preserve some beta cell function.
Same here, i had a really good nights sleep after my first injection of insulin unlike the weeks beforehand.27 years ago I was put straight onto Insulin and no 'honeymoon period for me ' I didn't even know about it
The OP has been following a VLC diet and through no fault of his own he now potentially needs insulin.
No one here is discussing fat intake or promoting low fat.
We all eat a variety of diets and no one diet suits everyone.
was diagnosed as type 1 due to DKA and a lovely!!!!! overnight stay at the hospitalI did start on insulin but came off early into diagnosis. Now my pancreas feels like its packing in and needs help!!no tablets
Surely you'll still have your pens and in-date insulin in your fridge, speak with your DSN about starting doses but you'll also find the following link helpful which is an on-line carb counting course:
