Hi first time post here! My 14 year old son was diagnosed in October . Feels like he's had type 1 for ever scary to think it's only just over 4 months . He was in clinic a couple of weeks ago and they said he's still in his honeymoon period . How long did this last for other people. He's doing so well and has done from day 1 , probably coped better than us !

Hi @Owl42 ,

Welcome to the forums.

It is not really possible to predict how long the honeymoon period will last. For some it's a couple of months, for others it can be years. It's luck of the draw.

Glad to hear he is coping well. I was advised by a specialist that the honeymoon can last around a year, it helps if blood glucose levels are well controlled as it takes the strain off the pancreas. To be honest it's very difficult to tell, just keep an eye on monitoring it.
