Honeymooning ending

So as of a recent month or so my sugars have been super high, I've finally got them down to a good place gradually after having to increase my doses and ratios.
I've had to double my ratio, now being on a 2:1 and my background was doubled from a 12 to about 22-24 depending on what's happening.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience and if this could be a sign I've stopped honeymooning? I was diagnosed in August of 2024 (last year) so this would be around an "appropriate" time for it to stop.

Any thoughts on this would help! Just wondering if it could be the honeymooning over and if anyone else has had to go through such a drastic increase.

The honeymoon period can last anywhere from weeks to months to years. It varies by person so we can’t say for sure if you’re leaving the honeymoon period but it’s likely as your insulin needs have increased.

During the honeymoon period your body is still producing insulin and so most people only require minimal insulin to keep their sugars within range and can find that once it is waning your insulin needs can increase significantly to make up for what your body was initially doing for you.

Every person’s insulin needs are different and even now having been diagnosed for 25 years my insulin needs still do change sometimes.

I’m sure others can give better advice as I don’t remember if I had a honeymoon phase as I was diagnosed when I was 1 years old. The only advice I can give is make sure you’re keeping an eye on your sugars and contact your team if you’re concerned.
