Sorry this may be a rant. Saw consultant in beginning if nov and she said she wanted to see me again in 3 months. Since then had Dka and high bm's. fighting to gain continuous good control. Anyway not received appointment so phoned today 29th APRIL, which will be nearly 6 months!!!!!
Has anyone else had problems with hospitals in Mansfield? Just seems to be 1 problem after another and I'm fed up if fighting for care. Beginning to wish I had stayed at hospital 25 miles away!!!

I get my appointments every 6 months. i think its a standard to get 2 appointments a year. Never tried to get any more so not sure if its possible at all.

With being newly disgnosed the consultant said 3 months and since I last saw her been admitted twice. Have since spoke to GP and we are referring to a different hospital, there has been to many problems at this hospital and I am not surprised at all after my experiences that they are being investigated over mortality rates

If you can, try see the DSN, I find they're better to talk to regarding getting better control. Most consultants seem to only be concerned with the HbA1c result of your last clinic blood sample and then maybe look at your last day`s meter readings if you're lucky and make a simple decision based on that. Nurses are much better at dealing with problems like these in my experience.
I saw my consultant just once last year ...I was due one in early January 12 and it was cancelled at short notice with less than a week before clinic date and rescheduled to June hence with 6 monthly clinics I didn't get to see him untill this January ...he was running 2 hours late I took 3 months worth of downloaded data from my meter and a folder of a hand written daily diary. He saw my hBA1c had dropped and said.. you're doing great it was 55 which is not nowhere near great (IMHO) .. looked at the last days entry in my daily diary and said I needed to drop by basal as I was a little low on my fasting tests but didn't listen when i said that was because I`d been shoveling snow and spreading salt for 8 hours at work hence the basal was running lower than usual but he didnt have time to look at my charts properly. I said ok but have not changed my doses.
