Hot weather and increased insulin

Since the hot weather started, I'm finding I'm needing about 40% more insulin for the same carbs as I was a few weeks ago. I only started on insulin last November so this is the first summer experienced on insulin. Is this a normal reaction to hot weather, or is something else going wrong that I should be worrying (or even doing something) about?

I'm the opposite though I've heard a lot of people on here need extra insulin when it's warmer, also there is the possibility the insulin has gone off (this happened to me last summer and I had to double my doses for the same effect until I googled it and threw it out) but it's not uncommon to need more or less in weather changes

Thanks! I don't *think* I've left my insulin anywhere hot, but it's worth bearing in mind.

Why do we have to have such a random disease? :D

i usually take more in hot weather as well. for me it's usually the heat gets me really exhausted and i have to rest a little and take a little more insulin but sometimes it does happen where i just havre to take more with eating too. be careful tho if you were recently diagnosed you could be coming out of your honeymoon phase where your body still produces a little bit of insulin it took me over a year but some people it happens with in a few months. i would call and talk to your doc just in case
