How are your feet?

Hi!

Since I was diagnosed with type 2 just over a year ago I felt I was pretty alone. However, I found out that several members of staff at the local council where I work are also diabetics and we have started our own little support group. At my suggestion we always greet each other the same way, by asking "how are your feet?"

It's our own sort of 'masonic handshake' in that we know what it means and its significance to our condition but non-diabetics won't have a clue what we're on about! So when passing each other in the corridor it's cool to ask "how are your feet?" and revel in the puzzled looks of our colleagues

Anyway, I reckon we ought spread the word - so, diabetics of the world unite!! from now on whenever you meet a fellow diabetic greet them by asking "how are your feet" and tell them to do the same whenever they meet another fellow diabetic!! Let's see if we can get this to go viral among the diabetic community!!

no way. you get your information reading these blogs. Is that not enough, without spreading the word. Surely you check your feet etc. and you buy the anti fungul cream. I would rather ask the forum. for there views. then to be greeted by hows your feet. hello would be nice

How are your feet, Ratty?

Bizarrely, I don't personally know anybody with diabetes in the real world. It's just little old me and you lot of virtual folk.

And I know only two people, one a T1 and one a T2. Very strange or not ?

Late onset T1, several auto immune issues.

I seem to be surrounded by them lol! I love this idea <3

And I'm another that doesn't know anyone else with diabetes, but as soon as I meet someone I will say How are your feet. Love the idea.

In my case the only D I knew was my dad & he was type2...

Then about a year ago I got roped into a JDRF fundraiser with one of my bands & found out the bass player was T1.
Since then I got "D moms" coming out my ears....!

HAYF backatcha!

I love the idea as well. I don't know anyone in real life except a distance cousin. However, I will keep this greeting in mind should I meet someone in future.

There are quite a few at my work and there have been several amputations. We don't mention feet.

I dont like the thought of asking "how are your feet?" At all.. Cannot peesonally see the need to ask anybody how their diabetes is...even if I even knew another diabetic...reason why... Diabetes is NOT the person..... It does NOT have to be the top item of identity of a person.....

Thumbs down from me...

There's a T1 in one of the flats here that has recently had a toe amputated - don't think that greeting would go down too well.

You look good. And nice boobs.
