My blood sugar readings vary during the day from 7.2 in themorning to 5.4 in the afternoon. I dont like the morning but dont know how to lower it as it seems to get higher as I sleep

I wish I woke up in the 7's . A good tip is to eat ASAP after waking so the liver dump is halted.

Personally I wouldn't waste too time and stress worrying about it.

There are more important things to focus on.

The "Dawn Phenomenom" is perfectly natural and your body working as it should.

If you are trying to get your overall levels lower, your morning levels will go lower at the same time.

Hi Kevin. It is widely reported here that the morning reading is the last to come down when you take control of your diabetes so try to be patient. Google "dawn phenomenon."

My fasting numbers are lowest when I don't snack in the evenings, but a higher fasting number can be caused by many factors such as the quality and quantity of sleep, stress, even the weather. Your liver is just giving you a wee boost to get you out of bed. I would be more worried if it didn't.
