How can I reduce my morning readings??

Morning fasting readings average around 7 and I cannot seem to lower this?? Any tips??
 
Is this Dawn Phenomenon?

Is the morning reading generally higher than the glucose level you go to bed with?
 
Some people have a bit of protein before bed to help with the Dawn Phenomenon, so might be worth looking into that side of things.
 
I'm a type 1 and I find that eating more protein the day before gives a bigger DP the next day. Mine tends to be worse on a Monday morning after a roast dinner. I try to use some of that DP up by doing cardio first thing on a Monday to control for the rest of the week.
