Bit confused with this low carb stuff lol.
Yesterday I had,
Breakfast: 2 oatibix with semi skimmed milk
Lunch: 2 rashers bacon, 1 egg and a few mushrooms with one slice of wholemeal bread and butter
Dinner: 2 slices of lean roast pork with mixed salad (lettuce, grated carrot, radish, cucumber, grated hard cheese, onion) with a little mayo
supper: 2 cream crackers smeared thinly with primula cheese spread

About 5 cups of tea (no sugar)
2 glasses of diet lemonade and small whisky
Is there anything there I should avoid or add?
Thanks for any advice
Kim

Hi Kim.
Personally I think it's fine although I avoid any cereals and bread. I must admit I started to drool.... :) The whisky might also have coloured my response ?
I am sure our diet Guru's will be on your case shortly.

Hi Kim.2 Oatabix is quite a lot of carbs, how were your blood sugar levels after that? A lot of low carbers have a cooked breakfast in the morning ,like bacon and eggs for instance, but maybe you just don't have time for this in the morning.Personally I have one Weetabix, still carbs but only about 12 I think.Keeps me going till dinner time but then I'm not rushing about too much in the mornings.(well not usually!)

Breakfast is the easiest thing to get right when you're lo-carbing, but it's also a pain to cook breakfast every morning. Why not try a single weetabix/oatibix/shredded wheat, but with added fruit (strawberries/raspberries/blueberries, etc...) along with some whipped double cream or even some greek yoghurt? Both options are better than milk...

Thanks for the tips. I didn't realise about the oatibix. I don't like cream or yoghurt so I'll have to stick to the milk. Apart from breakfast is everything else ok?

Here's how to find out

Personally I can't do that many carbs in the morning but could probably get away with more in the evening, that's a not uncommon pattern which doing your own postprandial tests would determine if you also have the same effect

Thanks for that, but unfortunately I'm not testing. I haven't had my dietician appointment yet, so I'm kind of flying in the dark. Thanks to you all for your replies, it's appreciated.

I know you may want to wait but sainsbury have a testing kit on offer for £12 with 50 strips. i bought one as I waited so long for the appointment. My specialist didn't offer me one anyway, but not sure whether that would have changed if I had asked him... I was that nervous I forgot
