How did you find out?

My eye sight was seriously deteriorating, going from 20/20 to myopic is three weeks
The only time I wasn't thirsty was when I had water in my mouth- it was summer (diagnosed on August 22nd) and I seriously felt like I was melting.

I have several other auto immune diseases, over the years I had been admitted to hospital
For tests to see if I was diabetic- I was nil by mouth for 48hrs - blood and urine samples where taken every 15 minutes- when the diagnosis was actually made it only took a finger prick and a urine sample.
Never felt so hungry in in my life than I did during those tests.

I was very angry at that- what they put me thru, all those times and when the actual diagnosis actually came- it was just so simple

Two weeks after being on insulin my eye sight was almost back to normal- it never got back to as good as it was but at least I wasn't almost blind again.
I have had an excessive thirst for most of the last 11 years since diagnosis
