Hi.

I am new to this Forum. I'm Type 1 for the last 27 years. ive been on a pump for 4.5 years. I'm 33 and I would like to start trying in June. My HBA1C is currently 7.1 and my doctor has advised me to bring this down to 6.1 before starting. It has taken me a year to go from 8.1 to 7.1. I can't wait another year

Does anyone have any good tips on how I could bring this down over the next 3 months.?
I'm currently on a low carb diet, I've adjusted my bolus ratio and basal levels-but my levels are still up and down with no pattern. Maybe I'm not eating the correct foods. But I'm just feeling so fed and tired of this. I don't want to loose motivation.
Thanks

Are you basal testing?
What sets are you using?
What times are the worst for high's?

Hi

I haven't basal tested. Do I do that by having a carb free meals?
It's weird because 2 hours after breakfast my sugars are about 7-8! However there are random days in between where it's high. For example this morning it was 13.5 2 hours after breakfast.
What should blood readings be before bed?
Thanks

Ok first off... On these random days inbetween are you by chance on a new set?

Really for basal testing you should have a lowish carb meal and bolus then no more food for basically 10 hours. Ie skipping one meal... Ie get up in morning have your breakfast and bolus and then not having anything to eat therafter until an evening meal. That would be testing your afternoon rates... As your bolus would have been out of your system after 5 hours. With afternoon trsting then I personally test every hour.

Mornings is easier as you just skip breakfast and eat nothing for 5 hours after getting up. Again I test hourly until the fasting is over.

If you go low you must stop basal testing and eat. If you go high... Then me personally I would allow myself to go to 10 and then correct and still carry on effectively not eating... And I would not eat for 5 hours after that correction to see that my correction bolus was correct.

What pump and setsare you using?

I don't do carb free meals as I also bolus for things like eggs...
