Intermittent fasting is for when you have normal or near normal glucose levels.
You shouldn't as you say on your meds.
It's the metformin upsetting your stomach. Are you on slow release, if not, ask your GP for a change. This will help with the problem but not always.
In the morning, what is known as dawn phenomenon occurs, it is your liver giving you a start in the morning, it's natural and nothing to do with your diabetes.
If you go for a half hour walk before breakfast, that will help.
As you say, you are only ten weeks in and that is only a short time in the scheme of things, for some, blood glucose levels come down quicker than others because of the higher insulin resistance, and how your pancreas produces so much insulin to rid your blood of glucose.
Testing and a food diary is important, because over time you can see how well you are doing, compare results and trends. It is a tool to hit your GP/dsn over the head with, if he/she tells you to eat lots of carbs!!!!!
Keep at it, this low carbing actually works!
It is a major lifestyle change and you do need to be patient with how it will help with the condition and if you can get your blood glucose levels to normal, you can come off the other meds.
Have you been warned about the glicizide?
In some people, the meds drops your blood glucose levels down to hypo levels.
If this happens, do consult your doctor.
